Start Your Life Today

The best day to start…

Life is what happens when you’re making other plans
— John Lennon

Do you ever feel like you’re waiting for something?

We talked in strong terms earlier about feeling a sense of purpose :

“In the limited time we get to enjoy the gift of being alive, would we rather know if we’re wasting our time now? Today? Or when it’s far too late?”

It’s an idea that can feel quite heavy, and yet embracing it can feel so light and so easy. Because ultimately, it feels good to live on purpose.

You’d be amazed at how long we can go on waiting. Here’s a quick story from Darius Norell to illustrate the point:

I had a friend who worked for a large national holding company. He got a graduate job, showed up on the first day - the manager wasn’t expecting him. They led him to a desk, told him to sit down and said they would find something for him to do.

How long was he sat there for? What’s he longest you think someone could be employed by a company and sit in an open plan office doing nothing?

He was there for 6 months.

If you initiate the conversation, you’re able to get what you need because it’s put you in a stronger position to take ownership of what you’re doing.”

As we’ve discussed before, the idea of responsibility can feel very heavy - until we think of it as ownership. When we take ownership of what we do, the good and the bad, it’s incredibly freeing.

If you’re ready to stop waiting and take ownership of your life, here are some places to start:
